This ascension day the esac is once again going to Fontainebleau!
Ahh Bleau, there is no place on earth like it.
This mythical forest littered with it's famous 'gres' (sandstone) blocs that attracts many climbers over the years.
Bleau is steeped in history, the first ever 6a was opened here and walking around Cuvier or Isatis one feels the spirit of the old Bleaussards in the 'bois'. A place first used by Parisian mountaineers as a climbing gym to train for alpine bigwalling. That was until they discovered that bouldering can also be fun. (If you want to know more about it's history, you can always contact the klimco) It is an area for young and old; grade literally range from 1a till 9a bloc.
Keep in mind that Bleau (Not Font, we aint no 'mericans) can be quite harsh for beginners, it requires tremendous technique and footwork on some of the tiniest footholds one can imagine, and it is only easy once you know how to climb there. Falling of a 1 might feel uninspiring, but trust me you will learn in no time.
Due to the fact that this is both a historical area, as well as a busy area, so some ethics are important to keep in mind: DO NOT CLIMB ON WET ROCK, IT WILL BREAK, no discussions on this part, if it looks even the least bit tad, do not even try. Make sure to keep the forrest clean, keep a bit quite and try to keep out of the way of other (individual) climbers.
Bleau will be a 4 day long weekend with lots of climbing and gezelligheid, so join us!
If you have any areas you really want to visit, let the board know!
Be sure to save the date! We will be going to Camping Les Prés.
We will leave 29th of May in the morning and return 1st of June in the evening.
There are only 50 spots, and subscriptions tend to fill up quickly, so be ready to subscribe.
The subscriptions will open up on Thursday 13/03 12:00 for one week. After this time, so on Thursday 20/03 12:00 we will preform a selection. This selection will prioritize in descending order:
